The rapper wrote a scathing diss about the British singer in his song "Better Things" and alluded to a rift in an interview, explaining, "I got into a lot of trouble over her at times when I didn't need to. She caused a lot of grief," and adding, "I wasn't supposed to be doing things with her, I got in trouble. Put it like that."

After the song's release (and a bit of backlash about the lyrics), Rocky admitted that the verse was "tasteless, but I've got to stand by it, because I did it. I said it." Needless to say, these two did not cross paths at the VMAs.
