One of Old Hollywood's most iconic couples is Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. They first met while filming To Have and Have Not in 1944 — when she was 19 and he was 44 — and began an affair; at the time, he was married to actress Mayo Methot, and Humphrey and Lauren's dalliances included on-set hookups and passionate love letters. The two starred together in four films and eventually made their relationship public after Humphrey filed for divorce and married Lauren in a small Ohio ceremony in 1945.
Despite the scandalous origins of their romance, "Bogie and Bacall" became the pinnacle of A-list love. They welcomed their first child, son Steven, in 1949, followed by a daughter, Leslie, three years later. They remained married until Bogie's death in 1957. Lauren went on to date Frank Sinatra, and was married to actor Jason Robards from 1961 to 1969, divorcing him due to his alcoholism. In a 1996 interview, Lauren referred to her relationship with Humphrey Bogart as her "one great marriage." She passed away in August 2014.
