There was something special that happened at the SAG Awards, which took place on Saturday night in LA. And no, we're not talking about all the hot guys who showed up or the slew of sweet celebrity couples — although all those moments were great as well. The most refreshing part about the evening, though, is the glorious diversity contained in this year's winners list. It's a happy change from the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, which centers on the lack of diversity in this year's Oscar nominations and has forced a handful of celebrities to weigh in. Keep reading to see how the SAG Awards flipped the issue on its head.

01

Idris Elba

Idris literally ran to the stage to accept his win for Beasts of No Nation.

02

The Cast of Orange Is the New Black

The whole cast of Orange Is the New Black snagged the award for best comedy ensemble series, and their presence on stage was statement enough about the noted inclusion in the show. Laura Prepon, who spoke on everyone's behalf, even made a point to note the show's diversity in her acceptance speech.

03

Queen Latifah

Not only did Queen Latifah snag an award for her stunning work in HBO's Bessie, but she even did a few bicep curls with her newly won award.

04

Uzo Aduba

Another win for the Orange Is the New Black star! Her brilliant acceptance speech was another tearjerker for sure.

05

Viola Davis

Viola scored another win for her work on How to Get Away With Murder and also added another impassioned speech to her docket.

The best part might have come backstage, though, in the press room. During her time on stage, she said, "Diversity is not a trending topic."

06

Idris Elba, Again

Idris also took away the trophy for his role on Luther. He even made a point of addressing the necessity for diversity during the show, saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to diverse TV."
