Everything We Know So Far About Mariah Carey's Upcoming Nuptials to James Packer
Mariah Carey and James Packer may have only gotten engaged a few months ago, but it appears as though these two aren't waiting very long to tie the knot. Luckily for us, the singer has already dropped a few tidbits in regards to their big day, including details about her dress and whether or not they've decided to get a prenup. As we await more news, read up on everything we know so far about Mariah and James's wedding, then check out 11 photos that prove they belong together.
- The start of it all: The world first caught a glimpse of the pair's newfound romance during their romantic Italian vacation back in June 2015, and three months later, the duo made their red carpet debut as a couple at the NYC premiere of The Intern.
- The engagement: In January, news broke that James had popped the question, and the following month, Mariah opened up about the proposal, telling E!, "I'm feeling fantastic, better than ever. He's an exceptional person, and really . . . it gets more romantic by the day, so it's very sweet. [It was] very romantic."
- The ring: A few weeks after their engagement, Mariah nearly blinded the world when she stepped out in NYC with her massive 35-carat diamond stunner, which was designed by her friend, Wilfredo Rosado. The singer later joked about the size of her ring, saying, "It's so heavy I can't lift my arm up! No . . . it's a nice chunk."
- The dress: While chatting it up with E! News in May, the singer alluded that her wedding dress would not be white, saying, "This is number three, you know darling. I'm not like 'Ooh, my white dress.' We did that number and I also made a video out of it, 'We Belong Together.'" She also admitted to already having her first fitting.
- The prenup: During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in May, Andy Cohen asked Mariah, "Will there be a prenup? You're both very valuable," to which she replied, "We want prenup. We want prenup," making reference to Kanye West's "Gold Digger."
- The big day: While Mariah has gone on record saying that she plans on walking down the aisle "somewhat soon," in February, she revealed, "We are not doing a big wedding because he did two big weddings, and it's kind of, like, 'I've done a big wedding, [too].' . . . We would rather make it beautiful but humble." She even shut down rumors that she wants a circus-themed wedding during a stop on Watch What Happens Live in May, telling Andy Cohen, "No, that really made me mad. These people really want to tell me I want endangered animals at my wedding? I'm such an animal-lover and such an advocate for animals that I'm like, really, that's what I'm going to do, have like endangered species? Should I make coats from them all? What else should we do?" Also don't expect her or anyone else to sing at her wedding.
