In 2015, he launched the #BuildASchoolWithShawn campaign in partnership with the nonprofit Pencils of Promise, raising more than $25,000. Through those donations, the organization was able to build a formal school for children in Shia, Ghana. Shawn even performed at the 2018 Global Citizen Festival to promote quality access to education for kids. That same year, Time magazine also honored him as one of the most influential people of 2018.
