The royal has battled dyslexia since he was a child, and in 2015, Carl revealed that it took years for him to feel comfortable speaking about it. While visiting the Dyslexia Association in May 2015, Carl opened up about his struggles as a child, saying, "I got red marks constantly. To read out loud before the whole class was a real pain." He also touched on his appearance at the 2013 Swedish sports gala, where he stumbled while announcing one of the winners, admitting, "It was a terrible feeling, being portrayed as stupid and unintelligent.” His father, King Carl Gustaf, and sister Crown Princess Victoria also battled dyslexia as children.
