16 Reasons William and Kate Are Perfect For Each Other

During their tour of Australia in 2015, Kate told crowds that William said she "looked like a banana" in her yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress. Later in the tour at an agriculture fair, Kate got her own back, telling William they should make him a toupee out of the alpaca hair. While they were abseiling on a UK engagement a few years later, Kate dangled William off a cliff and asked him, "William, how much do you love me?"

In their engagement interview, William said of Kate, "She's got a really naughty sense of humor, which kind of helps because I've got a really dry sense of humor . . . " and this is something that is backed up by endless pictures of the pair laughing their heads off at any opportunity. The films they have slipped off to watch together have been telling, as well, choosing boisterous comedies like The Inbetweeners and Bridesmaids.

No matter where they are, how formal the occasion, or how big the crowd, the close-knit couple always manage to find a moment for each other.

When Kate was starting out in royal life, William made sure she had all the help and support she needed to make the intense transition; he ensured that her family was still an important and integral part of her life and that she was well-informed every step of the way. Meanwhile, Kate has always been a support to William. She was a trusted confidante before they were even a couple, and later as they set up home in Anglesey, she kept the house while he worked, cooking his favorite roast chicken and baking cakes for him and his co-workers.

After finishing school at the age of 18, both chose charity work in Chile before they enrolled in St. Andrews University art history — although William later switched to geography.

When Charles and Diana were together, they clashed over how they wanted to spend their personal time — but William and Kate enjoy many of the same things, including skiing, country pursuits, dinner parties with friends, and curling up with a good box set.

Kate's family are fans of Cocker Spaniels, while William had a beloved childhood Black Labrador called Widgeon and also grew up with his father's Jack Russells, Tigger and Roo. It was only fitting that their wedding present from Kate's brother, James, was their beloved Cocker Spaniel, Lupo.

While Prince Harry tends to choose a varied range of vacations, William and Kate have consistently headed for relaxing tropical destinations when they have some time to themselves. William holidayed in the Caribbean with his mother on many occasions, and Kate grew up visiting Mustique every year with her parents. Since they have been together, they have on most occasions headed to the Caribbean or the Indian Ocean for some R&R.

At school, some of Kate's friends socialized with some of William's friends, which meant that when their paths finally crossed, they were already moving in similar social circles. The couple then forged a firm friendship group together during their four years at St. Andrews. Weekends at Anmer Hall now often involve a blend of William's best friends Thomas Van Straubenzee and James Meade and Kate's closest girlfriend, Sophie Carter.

They have raced in boats against each other on a couple of royal tours — the first time in Canada, William shouted out beforehand, "You're going down!" While even recently when they raced against each other at a Heads Together engagement, William tried to distract his wife before the race began. When boxer Anthony Ogogo asked Kate at a charity engagement if she and William are competitive with each other, he revealed, "She said they're both quite equal, and then said when they're playing Scrabble they don't usually finish because somebody's slammed it shut because they've lost."

Kate and William have an appreciation for escaping to the countryside for some fresh air but also enjoy the pleasures of urban living. William's childhood was split between Kensington Palace in London and his father's country estate Highgrove, while Kate grew up in rural Berkshire but lived in London for six years between university and getting married. The couple now happily split their time between Kensington Palace and their country bolt-hole Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

From two balcony kisses on their wedding day to adorably embracing at the London Olympics, William's hand in the small of Kate's back on countless occasions, or a loving hug on their first royal tour, the pair are not afraid to share a gesture of affection in public.

Kate has grown up surrounded by young cousins, and now eight of her 12 patronages are connected to the well-being of children and young adults. Similarly, William has always shown a flair for dealing with little ones and is at his best when engaging in an impromptu spot of football or teasing youngsters on his public engagements.

When William and Kate were first friends at St. Andrews, they used to go swimming and play tennis together. The pair were always sporty in their respective schools when they were growing up. Kate favored field hockey, swimming, and tennis, while William enjoyed polo, swimming, and water polo. The couple continue to keep active now, including many physical elements to their tours and engagements.

Since the beginning, Kate has always had a great relationship with Harry, Charles, Camilla, the queen, and the entire extended royal family, while William adores Carole and Michael Middleton and Kate's sister, Pippa, and brother, James.

It's clear from their electric body language that the pair just enjoy being around each other; whether it's a flirty glance or a look of affection, their appreciation for each other is always easy to see.
