Popsugar Celebrity Issa Rae Cute Pictures of the Insecure Cast Hanging Out Together Unlike the Show, the Insecure Cast Are All Actually Friends in Real Life June 14, 2020 by Monica Sisavat Solís First Published: September 28, 2017 View On One Page Photo 42 of 42 ADVERTISEMENT () Start Slideshow View this post on Instagram I love this picture. I’ve been saving it. For no reason. 😂 I feel like we look like we went back to high school... as adults. 😂 Listen, I really appreciate @issarae @the_a_prentice and the @insecurehbo writers for going deeper into Nathan’s storyline of his struggle with mental illness. @kerrywashington for directing the hell out of this story. It is a personal passion of mine. # I wrote an OpEd about it (link in stories and highlights) and our work we plan to do @bldpwr to #LiberateMentalHealth Black folks have SO MANY barriers to our mental health. We live in an anti-Black culture founded on slavery of our ancestors and genocide of indigenous folks. And the systems that were built on top our trauma, were built to protect the ppl who tortured our ancestors with the intention to target us. # We cannot truly liberate our mental health without taking on a framework of Abolition of these systems and Reparations for our trauma. That’s why millions of people around the globe are chanting #DefundthePolice standing with the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the @mvmnt4blklives because one of those systems that continues to add to our trauma and prevent us from getting the help we need is the policing system founded on slave catching. Ppl with mental health issues are 16x more likely to be killed by police. We need care, not cops. # Let’s continue to work #DefundthePolice and abolish all of these anti-Black colonized systems that target our loved ones. Let’s free up those COINS, OUR COINS, to build the culturally competent, decentralized, trauma informed mental health infrastructure we need in our communities (including therapy, counselors in schools, rehabilitation, alternatives to incarceration, restorative justice and housing and so many things) so that people like Nathan and myself can get the healing we need. So that all the Nathans across America can communicate better and not cause unnecessary stress for our Black women like Issa Dee. # Love y’all. My Black people. We deserve better. We can and will build better. Keep fighting. WE ARE WINNING!!! 💯✊🏽 And keep taking care of yourselves and others. ✊🏽🖤🙏🏽 #InsecureHBO A post shared by Kendrick Sampson (@kendrick38) on Jun 7, 2020 at 8:02pm PDT Share This Link Copy ← Use Arrow Keys → 42 Previous Next Start Slideshow Celebrity InstagramsInsecureIssa RaeCelebrity Friendships
