Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan Are Really Cute Together, but Sadly They’re Not Dating

Lupita Nyong'o and Michael B. Jordan have received major praise for their roles in Black Panther, but they also have a lot of people wondering about their relationship status — specifically, if they're dating. After the Golden Globes, they both posted a hilarious video of them making out in an elevator before their Black Panther costar Danai Gurira catches them (and proceeds to seemingly land a kiss on Lupita as the doors close). The video revived people's hopes that Michael and Lupita might be romantically involved. But alas, as much as we love their cute interactions, they are indeed just friends.

After the video was posted, Michael and Lupita addressed the dating rumors in an interview with ET. "No, we're good friends, honestly, we've known each other a really long time and respect each other and I love this girl to death," Michael said.

Lupita shared the same sentiment, adding, "It's flattering at the end of the day. I think it's such a rare thing to find people you have good chemistry with and too for us to find each other as actors and get to work together, it makes the work richer that we truly enjoy each other's company on and off screen." But, to be clear, they enjoy each other's totally platonic company on and off screen.

In January 2018, Michael said he was "technically single," later clarifying his comments, saying that he actually was dating. According to BET, he was romancing a woman named Ashlyn Castro around that time. But in July 2018, he was spotted with another woman named Ehsa Vantha at St. Tropez nightclub, but there weren't any reports of them being in a serious relationship after hanging out that night. A few months later, Michael made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying that he's single because he's focusing on his career.

Lupita has also been pretty private when it comes to her love life, though she was previously linked to GQ Style fashion editor Mobolaji Dawodu. When asked about her relationship status in Vogue's January 2018 issue, Lupita responded, "You can ask, but you definitely won't get an answer. There have been rumors and rumors and rumors about my love life. That's the one area that I really like to hold close to my heart."

Well, at least we'll always have the cute, non-romantic moments between Michael and Lupita to cherish.
