Kennya Baldwin was born in Brazil and is the daughter of legendary Brazilian composer Eumir Deodato. Though she grew up in her father's limelight, she decided to move to New York for school, attending York Preparatory School and later studying graphic design at Parsons School of Design. However, her newly quiet life took a surprising turn when she met her future husband, Stephen Baldwin, on a New York City subway in 1987. The two started to date soon after, and in their three decades together, Kennya has remained impressively obscure despite her celebrity family status. In 2014, Hailey told Grazia Daily that her mom was even approached by Leonardo DiCaprio at a London bar, and he asked her on a date.
In an interview with ABC, Stephen said Kennya helped Stephen return to faith, as she is a devout Christian. She and Stephen have remained faithful and romantic even through tough times, such as when Stephen was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2009 after failing to pay mortgage and income tax. Daughters Alaia and Hailey often refer to their parents' relationship as "couple goals" on social media, as the two represent one of Hollywood's longest and strongest marriages.
