Demi Lovato Speaks Out For the First Time After Overdose: "I Will Keep Fighting"

Demi Lovato addressed fans for the first time since suffering a reported drug overdose last month. On Sunday, the singer shared a message to Instagram, saying that she has "always been transparent" about her struggles with addiction and that she "must continue to overcome" her illness. Demi went on to thank God for "keeping her alive" and her family, team, and hospital staff for being by her side. She confirmed that she is taking time to heal and focus on her sobriety and "will keep fighting."

Demi was hospitalized on July 24 after being found unconscious at her home in LA; reports emerged that the 25-year-old had overdosed on drugs during an all-night party. Demi was released from the hospital on Aug. 4 and has reportedly entered a rehab facility, where she will stay for an extended period of time. See Demi's full statement below.
