Kate Middleton and Prince William Enjoy an Adorable Secret Tea Date During Their Cumbria Visit

Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoyed a low-key tea date in England's Cumbria countryside on June 11. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stopped by the Inn on the Lake near Ullswater for some down time and indulged in snacks, such as scones, finger sandwiches, and macaroons. The two looked completely casual as Kate wore an olive green jacket over a sweater with jeans and William sported a dark blazer with jeans.

Not only did Kate and William treat themselves to a light meal, but they also met with the hotel director, Dani Hope, and her children, Harry and Ellie. "What a day we've had, we feel absolutely privileged to have been asked to cater for the Royal visit," Dani told Hello! magazine. "It was an absolute pleasure to meet the Duke and Duchess. On top of that it was a wonderful opportunity for Harry and Ellie to meet the future King and Queen! They were both so friendly and took time to chat to us, with Kate asking Harry if his favorite food was pizza but he replied, 'No, it's chips!'"

The inn also posted about the royal duo's relaxed visit on Instagram with a gallery of the pair speaking to Dani and her kids. "We had two VERY special guests stop by today!" the lodge captioned the photo collection. Lake District Hotels Ltd. — the company that owns the Inn on the Lake — shared excitement over the stop-off, adding, "It's good to know that our hotels are fit for royalty!!"

Kate and William's secret rendezvous came right after they met with Cumbria community members — including farmers and volunteers — who help support the rural area. They mingled with young children, pet a few adorable dogs, and even tried their hands at sheep shearing at Deepdale Hall Farm. Evidently, it was a pretty full day for the duke and duchess!
