Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone Have Been Dating For Longer Than You May Realize

Leo and Camila were first romantically linked towards the end of 2017, about six months after Leo reportedly parted ways with his girlfriend of one year, model Nina Agdal. The maybe-couple was spotted shopping at Barneys in LA, and Us Weekly reported that the two were "hooking up." Just a few days after that initial sighting, Leo was photographed leaving Camila's LA home.

Soon enough, Camila joined Leo for an Aspen ski trip with Leo's good friend Tobey Maguire, as well as Tobey's two kids. "They are family friends and the two families are very close," a source for People claimed, as Leo has been close with Camila's stepfather, Al Pacino, for over a decade. Camila shared pics from the ski trip on her Instagram.

Just a few weeks after looking couple-y while out-and-about in LA, the two were spotted engaging in PDA at Coachella by E! News, where Leo tried (and failed) to go incognito in a pair of sunglasses and hoodie. Then, a few weeks after that, Leo and Camila were spotted in NYC wearing matching white T-shirts and looking like total couple goals.

In August 2018, Leo and Camila jetted off to France to vacation in Antibes and St. Tropez (where they also spent time with Camila's mom) before moving on to Positano and Nerano in Italy. According to a source for E! News, the actor and model were enjoying a laid-back romance. "Things with Leo and Cami are going very well," the source reported. "Leo really likes Cami and they spend a lot of time together. She's got a great, spunky personality that Leo is drawn to, and she's obviously gorgeous. All Leo's friends like Cami, too. She's just a low key, cool girl."

Nearly a year after their first sighting at Barneys, Leo and Camila stepped out together for a rare public appearance to attend the UEFA Campions League Group C match between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool FC in Paris, where they cuddled and joked around in the stands. A source for E! News claimed that the relationship was starting to get more serious, but marriage wasn't up for discussion yet. "They've been inseparable for the last year and are crazy about one another," the source said. "They've gotten to know each other's families, and they love being together."

However, a source for Us Weekly told a very different story. Just a day before E! News ran their story, the magazine reported that a proposal could be forthcoming. The source revealed, "They're very serious and in love. They've talked about getting engaged," later adding that "he's never loved a girl like this."

The couple spent their second New Year's together in Thailand, where — according to Entertainment Tonight — they paid a visit to Ko Phi Phi Le, an island off the coast of Thailand, where Leo filmed The Beach in 1999. Camila also shared photos on Instagram from Phuket and the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary.

In April 2019, a few weeks after they were spotted strolling together in LA, Leo and Camila attended Coachella for the second year in a row, where the couple again showed some PDA and Leo again attempted to blend in with a hoodie and shades.

A month after Coachella, the two both attended the Cannes Film Festival in France, though they went to separate events (Camila attended the premiere of Mickey and the Bear, while Leo attended the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiere), and they didn't step out on the red carpet together. However, Leo was caught playing Instagram Boyfriend for Camila at the Eden Roc Hotel in Cannes, which was almost as good as a red carpet couple photo.

In July 2019, Camila posted a series of black-and-white photos of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart on Instagram, captioning the photos, "A love like this." As the two Old Hollywood actors notoriously had a 25-year age gap, fans were quick to make the connection to Camila's own 23-year age gap with Leo. She later took to her Instagram Story to defend her relationship against trolls. "I just read some of the comments on my Instagram and my god, people are so mean," she said. "And, like, full of anger for people they know nothing about. I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to live with a little less hatred and place their time and interest elsewhere because living without hatred feels pretty good."

A few days before she posted the photos, People reported that their relationship was anything but casual. "Camila spends a lot of time at his house," the source claimed, later adding, "Camila is long known as Leo's girlfriend. And Leo introduced her to both of his parents long ago." In early August, Camila and Leo took another PDA-filled trip to Positano, Italy, further proving how crazy they were about each other.

Towards the end of 2019, Camila opened up about her relationship for the first time during an interview with the Los Angeles Times. She explained that, while she understood people's fascination with the romance, she hoped fans wouldn't let her personal life overshadow her professional achievements. " . . . I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you're dating," she said, later adding, "I understand the association, but I'm confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation." She also pointed out that having substantial age gaps between partners was not a new thing in Hollywood. "There's so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps," she said. "I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date."

She joined Leo on a second ski trip to Aspen before the holidays, and for New Year's, the two escaped to St. Bart's for a romantic getaway. Once again, Leo showed off his Instagram Boyfriend skills on the beach.

Though they didn't walk the red carpet together, it was revealed during Janelle Monáe's opening performance that Leo and Camila were sitting next to each other in the front row at the 2020 Oscars. It was the first time in 15 years that Leo had brought a girlfriend to the Oscars, the last time being when he brought Gisele Bündchen as his date in 2005. It also marked Leo and Camila's first award show appearance together (and hopefully it's the first of many!).
