Ariana Grande's First Wives Club-inspired performance of "Thank U, Next" was only the beginning of her empowering movie tributes. Since releasing the uplifting breakup anthem earlier this month, Grande's "Thank U, Next" has become a staple in all of our playlists. Now, she's teasing photos from what appears to be the song's music video, and it has Mean Girls, Bring It On, and Legally Blonde written all over it.
On Nov. 24, Grande posted a few photos of her dressed as Regina George from Mean Girls while posing with her own rendition of the Burn Book that says "Thank U, Next." In another snapshot, she's seen lying next to the open book, and there's a page that has the name "Sean" inside a heart. And since the song is all about what she's learned from her exes, we pretty much know that the name is referring to Big Sean, whom she dated back in 2015. And judging from Grande's group shot of the reimagined Mean Girls cast, we'll also get to see Jonathan Bennett reprise his role as Aaron Samuels as well as a mini Victorious reunion between Grande and Liz Gillies.
The singer has also teased that fans will get to relive their cheerleading dreams with a few posts that allude to the movie Bring It On. In one photo, Grande is totally working it in a cheerleading uniform with pom-poms, captioning it, "i transferred from los angeles, your school has no gymnastics team this issaalast resort." And it looks like the East Compton Clover squad is coming back to dance with Grande's "TUN" cheer team (we're going to go 'head and guess that stands for "Thank U, Next"). The pop star even got the attention of two Bring It On original stars, Eliza Dushku, who tweeted "it's bein' brought'n" after seeing Grande's picture, and Gabrielle Union, who seemed just as hyped about the upcoming video.
Why yes, I am an East Compton Clover! Are we meeting today @ArianaGrande I'll bring the punch 🤗🥂🍹 https://t.co/4aeValUtx2

And if that's not enough to get you excited for the video, Grande also channeled her inner Elle Woods from Legally Blonde by posing on an elliptical with a tangerine iBook. She even snapped a photo with actress Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Paulette in the film. Legally Blonde might start off as a movie about a woman chasing after the man who broke up with her, but it turns into an insightful feminist story about being able to do anything you put your mind to. Just like the lyrics in "Thank U, Next," it's about growing from the past and becoming stronger from it. Holland Taylor's character said it best: "If you're going to let one stupid prick ruin your life, then you're not the girl I thought you were," and that's the exact attitude Grande has embraced in real life. In the song, Grande's version of Warner Huntington III are her exes Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and Pete Davidson, whom she name-drops in the lyrics.
While Grande has not officially specified if these photos are for an upcoming music video, she did made sure to tag Alfredo Flores and Hannah Lux Davis, who have both directed videos of hers in the past. We just hope we'll get to see more original cast members of these films make an appearance. And we have reason to believe that there's a fourth film that Grande will be adding into the mix, so there's yet another thing to look forward to. We're getting chills just thinking about it.
Read on to see photos from what appears to be the "Thank U, Next" music video, and get excited for all the empowering scenes to come.
