It's Official: Gladys Knight Is Singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl

Gladys Knight is getting back on that midnight train to Georgia. Per an announcement from the NFL on Thursday, the legendary soul singer is officially singing the national anthem at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. "Atlanta, I'm coming home," the Georgia-born singer tweeted shortly after the announcement. Knight's performance will be televised on CBS just ahead of kickoff.

"I am proud to use my voice to unite and represent our country in my hometown of Atlanta," Knight said in a statement, briefly explaining her decision to perform. "The NFL recently announced their new social justice platform Inspire Change, and I am honored to be a part of its inaugural year." Knight is just the latest performer that Super Bowl LIII has added to its lineup. Maroon 5 is set to headline the halftime show, joined by rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi. The game airs on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 3.
