Twist! When the highly anticipated adaptation of Gillian Flynn's book Gone Girl comes out this October, readers of the book can expect to be surprised by the ending, because it will be different than the book. In this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, which features a creepy image of stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, director David Fincher revealed that Flynn, who wrote the screenplay, wrote an entirely new ending for the film. In the article, Fincher quotes Affleck, who had said, "This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch."
We won't spoil the end of the book, but I'm excited by the idea of a different ending, both because I didn't love the book's ending, and because it'll be nice not to know how the movie ends. If you read the book, what do you think of this development?
