Wait, Did One Direction Just Say Goodbye Forever?

We all knew One Direction would be going on a hiatus after they finished promoting Made in the A.M., their latest album, but a video of the gang on Twitter makes it feel like this might be the end of the line for them. While the band will be featured in a prerecorded segment on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the performance on Sunday's episode of The X Factor UK is their last scheduled appearance. On the same day, they uploaded a video to Twitter thanking fans for supporting them during their careers. While Liam Payne does say, "Today's a very special day for us because this is like the last part of our first chapter," it kind of seems like they're closing the books on One Direction.
It would be somewhat poetic for their final performance to be on the finale of the show on which they were formed and placed third on five years ago, right? Let's hope I'm wrong and they continue to make music after their hiatus! For now, take a look at the performance and video below, and check out
their recent intimate performance of "History."
