Rock Out With These Epic Singing Scenes From Movies

Obviously, there's a ton of singing in this movie, but Kendrick's performance of the Cups song is still the most memorable moment.

He may not know all the words to "That's Not My Name," but Charlie Day gets enthusiasm points for this hilarious scenes.

He does angry, heartbroken karaoke later on in the movie, but I much prefer watching Joseph Gordon-Levitt deliver a fun rendition of The Pixies' "Here Comes Your Man" in happier times. He gets extra points for workin' that sweater vest.

Is there anything more romantic than a guy trying to earn your attention by singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" accompanied by the school marching band? No, there is not.

OK, the real Wilson Phillips sings "Hold On" at Rudolph's character's wedding, but she and Wiig hilariously join in around the one minute mark.

Why does Michael Cera have to sing in this scene? Because a scary group of dudes think his character Evan is "Jimmy's brother," who's apparently a great singer. Why does Evan pick "These Eyes"? Who knows, but my favorite part is his little dance move at the end.

We knew JT had a great set of pipes, but did we know he knew (most of) the words to the '90s jam "Jump"? Not until Friends With Benefits.

The only thing better than James Marsden and Katherine Heigl singing "Bennie and the Jets" on a bar is when his character makes fun of hers for not knowing the lyrics.

Need a reminder of how ridiculously funny Emma Stone is? Watch her character Olive become slowly obsessed with the Natasha Bedingfield song "Pocketful of Sunshine" over the course of a few days.

Ryan Gosling is a vocalist in a band, so we know he doesn't "have to sing goofy," like his character insists. Even goofy, he still sounds pretty great singing the oldie "You Always Hurt the One You Love."

Ah, the old crying-while-singing thing. Adam Sandler nails it as his heartbroken character tries to get through the way-too-upbeat "Wouldn't It Be Nice."

There is not a more appropriate song than "You Don't Own Me" to close out this movie. There is some serious mom dancing in this scene, and I love it.

Home alone, singing a rock song at the top of your lungs with a glass of wine in your hand? We've all been there.

Clearly, dudes recognize that singing a song to their ladies is romantic, but here's Adam Scott kind of bungling it (but being charming nonetheless). Watch him sing "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" to a mortified Lizzy Caplan.

Mock. Yeah. Ing. Yeah! This cover of "Mockingbird" may be annoying to their road-trip companion, but this scene is one of the funniest sing-alongs of all time.

As one character puts it, "Tone deaf and drunk is not a good combination." It is, however, a very funny combination.

Is there anyone who hears "Bohemian Rhapsody" and doesn't think of Wayne's World? I highly doubt it. Just try not to head-bang along.

She's sexy, she's got a pink wig on, and she picks a cool song ("Brass in Pocket"). Scarlett Johansson shows you how to look cute while doing karaoke.

A must-watch. As dowdy women, these three are hilarious singing the Cyndi Lauper classic "True Colors."

Jim Carrey is awkward and hilarious — and, naturally, gives it his all — on this karaoke rendition of "Somebody to Love."

This iconic karaoke scene is awesome, but Cameron Diaz's singing is not (it's still hilarious that someone just yells out "you suck!"). It's awesome because she goes from being so bad to just embracing the badness and earning the bar's respect.

Will Ferrell is no stranger to singing in movies, but one of my favorite covers of his is this low-key version of the '70s rock song "(I'd Go the) Whole Wide World."

Ben Affleck's rendition of "Leavin' on a Jet Plane" is both romantic and cheesy (and I see what you did there with the big jet plane thing).

Chris Farley and David Spade participate in a time-honored road-trip tradition: singing along to anything and everything on the radio, from "Come on Eileen" to "Eres Tu."

Tom Cruise really belts out Tom Petty's "Free Falling" in one of everyone's preferred singing venues: the car.

You're never too old to learn the lyrics of "Rapper's Delight."

"Dust in the Wind" is a moving song for a funeral, especially when it's topped off with "You're my boy, Blue!"

Things might get awkward during the tour for fictional band Stillwater, but leave it to a sing-along of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" to make it all better.

How do you calm a rowdy bar full of drunk patrons? By singing Blondie's "One Way or Another." Duh.

This duet of "Baby It's Cold Outside" would be a lot cuter if one person wasn't in the shower.

Leave it to the R&B classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" to help mend a newly integrated football team in the '70s. Ryan Gosling dancing bonus!

Gwyneth's lovely voice has popped up in other movies (she plays a country singer in Country Strong), but I'm partial to this duet with singer Huey Lewis (as her dad) on the song "Cruisin'."

What's love like? According to Ron Burgundy, it's the essence of the the '70s song "Afternoon Delight."

Britney Spears was at the top of her pop game when Crossroads came out, so it's a little hard to sympathize with how nervous her character is when she starts "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" — but it's still really fun.

Apparently singing relaxes the throat? All I know is I can't hear "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" without thinking of this NSFW scene.

You're in a badass car — is there any other choice but to sing along to an awesome song like "Gangsta's Paradise"?

Adam Scott's character is the worst in Step Brothers, as evidenced by how critical he is in a family sing-along of "Sweet Child o' Mine."

It's not really karaoke bar protocol, but Chris Tucker does everyone a favor by taking over on Michael Jackson's classic "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."

There may not be a better (or more dramatic) way to hit on someone than by singing "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'."
