A Wet Hot American Summer Refresher

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp is likely to be one of the biggest series of the Summer. Everybody is superstoked about this prequel to the 2001 movie that has tons of very young, not-so-famous-at-the-time stars. In a few short days, we'll get eight episodes all about what happened on the very first day of Camp Firewood, and the anticipation is surely about to kill us. Since it's been almost 15 years since the last day of camp, we've put together a little refresher on all our favorite camp counselors. Here's what you need to remember about the last day, in order to better appreciate the First Day of Camp.

Beth and Henry
Focus Features

Beth and Henry

Beth (Janeane Garofalo) and Henry (David Hyde Pierce) wind up together, but not before saving the camp from a rogue piece of SkyLab. Henry’s device wins him the Hopkins prize and he’ll surely make tenure now. Beth is pregnant and ready to start her life with Henry, despite the fact that he has crabs.

Coop
Focus Features

Coop

Coop (Michael Showalter) pines for Katie all Summer and looks on, jealous, as she makes out with Andy. Finally he finds the nerve to give her his favorite flannel shirt wrapped in a comically small box, and she proclaims her love for him at the talent show.

That doesn't last long at all, and Coop winds up being dumped . . . again.

Katie
Focus Features

Katie

Katie (Marguerite Moreau) finally gets Andy (Paul Rudd) to pay attention to her, and she isn’t willing to give up those cheekbones or cut biceps for a little romance. No, way. Cooper’s sweetness is no match for Andy's animal magnetism. She know exactly where her priorities are . . . sex.

Andy
Netflix

Andy

He's Camp Firewood’s dreamiest counselor. It doesn't even matter that he's an emotional abuser and probably suffers from borderline personality disorder. All the girls love him and all the boys want to be just like him, except for the handful of kids that he lets drown, and nobody is asking their opinion anyway. He’s too much man for one woman, but doesn't like when girls smell like hamburgers.

Lindsay
Netflix

Lindsay

Lindsay (Elizabeth Banks) spends all Summer throwing herself at Andy and is probably partially responsible for the drowning death of at least two campers. When things go south with Andy, she has to go to the talent show alone. Lucky for her, Abby Bernstein sits next to her. Steve’s act is sexy as hell, and Abby and Lindsay have an epic makeout session. Abby and Lindsay could be really happy together.

Victor
Focus Features

Victor

Victor (Ken Marino) is an oversexed virgin whose only mission in life is to have sex with Abby Bernstein, because Abby Bernstein is a pretty easy lay (just ask Lindsay). His desires overtake him and he abandons Neil and a raft full of campers on the edge of certain doom, only to walk the hundreds of miles back to Abby. Unfortunately his walk, and the campers’ lives, are for nothing because Abby forgets all about him and he finds her making out with another counselor (or is it a camper?).

Susie
Netflix

Susie

After all of Susie's (Amy Poehler) hard work on the talent show, her troupe really brings it with their rendition of "Day by Day" from Godspell. Disappointed at the boos and hisses of the crowd, Susie is left doubting her own talent as producer and choreographer. And her viability as a partner for Ben.

Ben and McKinley
Focus Features

Ben and McKinley

Ben (Bradley Cooper) and McKinley (Michael Ian Black), after a lot of gossip and matchmaking, finally tie the knot in a very respectful forest wedding, officiated by Beth. (Neither of the grooms could wear white after that supersteamy love scene in the shed.)

Forget Andy and Katie, these two are Camp Firewood's cutest couple.

Gail
Focus Features

Gail

Poor Gail (Molly Shannon). After her husband, Ron (Judah Friedlander), had dumped her, she just can't keep herself together. Thanks to the help of her arts and craft students, and their tough love strategy, Gail is now free from her grief over losing Ron. She’s so strong, in fact, that she turns Ron down when he shows up at the talent show to win her back. She’s so over Ron, she’s going to marry Aaron, the completely age-appropriate, new man in her life.

Gene
Netflix

Gene

Gene (Christopher Meloni) spends most of the last day reliving his days in ‘Nam, in the throes of a full-on PTSD episode. Part of Gene’s problem, however, is that he just doesn't feel free to express his feelings about his d*ck cream, his sweater-fondling habit, and his fridge-humping. Thanks to Can-of-Vegetables, Gene now feels free to be himself, and is probably somewhere humping a fridge right now.
