Claflin's very first role was in the 2010 Emmy-winning TV miniseries The Pillars of The Earth, a historical drama that aired on Starz. He starred alongside actors like Hayley Atwell, Eddie Redmayne, and Ian McShane.

Most of the moviegoing population first saw Claflin when he had a supporting role in the fourth film of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
