From Britney to Beyoncé, See the '90s and '00s References in Normani's "Motivation" Video

At the very beginning of the video, a younger version of Normani is sitting in front of the TV in her childhood living room, watching none other than BET's popular countdown show 106 and Park, which ran from 2004 to 2014.

Dressed in a white cropped tank top and denim jeans, Normani opens the video with the iconic Beyoncé spin and hair flip from her 2003 "Crazy in Love" video. From her walk to the sexy hip shaking, she is totally channeling Queen Bey.

Clearly, Normani is a diehard Britney Spears fan, because we're getting a few ". . . Baby One More Time" references during that basketball court dance sequence. Not only is the location a callback to Spears's iconic 1998 video, but Normani even pulls off some seriously incredible backflips while dressed in pink and white, just like Britney!

You might not remember Omarion's 2005 "Touch" video, but for those who do recall the video's iconic choreography, there's no mistaking Normani's early '00s reference when she starts dancing in the middle of the road without a care. Am I the only feeling super nostalgic right now?

Of course, Normani couldn't leave out Ciara's 2004 hit "1, 2, Step," which features the singer dancing with some neighborhood friends. Normani picks up right where Ciara left off and pulls off some supercool dance moves. The coolest part? Ciara saw the video! "Dope, get it mama," she said in a tweet directed at Normani.

Jennifer Lopez is an icon when it comes to her music videos. Normani makes sure to incorporate one of the pop superstar's video moments into her own as she's dancing on the basketball court with a guy who's clearly interested. The dance move is a subtle recreation of Jennifer Lopez dancing with Ja Rule in the video for their 2001 hit "I'm Real," and Normani does it justice.

Normani also seemed to include a reference to Rihanna's 2008 classic "Umbrella." From the sexy dance moves to the rain falling all around — a nod to the sparks flying in Rihanna's own video — this scene has Normani hydroplaning into fame.

Last, but certainly not least, the self-proclaimed Kelly Rowland stan threw in a little reference to her Destiny's Child idol. While it's subtle, the color palette of Normani's video gets a major switch-up towards the end, fading into moody hues of green and blue — a lot like Rowland's own "Motivation" music video from 2011, right?

"Let me be your Motivation!! Loved it babe!!" Kelly Rowland said in a tweet, and we can only imagine the happy dance and screams of joy that followed.
