The Monologue

Fey and Poehler's monologue may have been their best one ever, because it really felt like they topped themselves. No one was safe from their zingers, and even the Bill Cosby bit that went a little bit awry got so ridiculous that the joke righted itself. Meryl Streep was right — we're really going to miss these two.

Benedict Cumberbatch's "Surprise" Presenter Announcement

Cumberbatch was already slotted to be a presenter, so this wasn't actually a real surprise, but it was awesome when Fey and Poehler pretended to pick an audience member at random to present with Jennifer Aniston, and they landed on Cumberbatch. The best part was this hilarious reaction.

Gina Rodriguez's Big Win

Not only was it exciting to see first-timer Gina Rodriguez win for Jane the Virgin because the freshman series has been a delightful breakout hit, she also gave us one of the best speeches of the night.

Jeremy Renner's Globes Comment

Maybe it wasn't entirely appropriate, but Renner's joke about Jennifer Lopez's "globes" was clearly an unscripted moment, adding to that whole anything-can-happen vibe the show prides itself on.

Common and John Legend accepted the Globe for best original song for Selma, and they used their speech as an opportunity to inspire and move us. It was political but didn't feel off topic or alienating, just very timely.

Cho was almost an unofficial third host, as she showed up to monitor things as a North Korean reporter. It was so ridiculous and probably the funniest bit from the whole show about The Interview.

Kevin Spacey's Speech

You knew Spacey's speech was going to be a good time when he channeled his House of Cards character Frank to say that this was just the beginning of his revenge, but things got really good when he dropped an F-bomb to say that he couldn't "f*cking believe" he won after eight tries. Well played, Spacey.

Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader's Presenting Bit

Wiig is always a hilarious presenter, and when she teamed up with her old SNL buddy Hader, they did a silly bit about movie quotes that are in no way real or quotable. It was the kind of off-the-cuff humor we love from these two, and their moment rivaled Amy and Tina's job.

When George Clooney Talked About Amal

Clooney picked up a well-deserved lifetime achievement award, and in his speech, he did exactly what we hoped he'd do: talk about Amal. Clooney sounded every bit like a smitten newlywed, in awe of his bride.
