American Sniper: The Controversial Tweets From Kid Rock and Others

Clint Eastwood's Oscar-nominated military drama American Sniper has been all over the news this week. Based on the true story of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (played by Bradley Cooper), the film broke box office records over the three-day weekend. On the heels of its success, a controversy has broken out about whether the film fairly portrays the war in Iraq and the military's role in it. Everyone from Seth Rogen to Michael Moore to Kid Rock is chiming in, so here's a guide to who has said what about the hotly debated film. Source: Warner Bros.

First, Seth Rogen compared American Sniper to a Nazi film in Inglourious Basterds.

For reference, the movie within the movie that he's referring to is Nation's Pride, a Nazi propaganda film.

When people got upset, he tried to clarify his remark.

He even explicitly said that he wasn't comparing them.

Finally, he commented on the everyone's overreaction to the remark.

Meanwhile, Michael Moore tweeted a comment that people linked to American Sniper.

He followed it with another comment that incited conversation.

When Twitter reacted, he attempted to clarify.

He then linked to his lengthy Facebook post on the film.

On the other side of the issue, Rob Lowe tweeted his support for the movie.

Then he called out Moore for his comments.

But eventually left things on a somewhat comical note.

Randomly, Dean Cain criticized Rogen's position to comment.

And Sarah Palin wrote a scathing letter to "Hollywood leftists" about it.

Country star Blake Shelton was publicly excited about the movie.

He got slightly political.

Then took a very strong stance on those speaking out against the film.

Finally, Kid Rock took it ten steps across the line on his website.

Which (may have) caused Seth Rogen to send out one final message.
