Pretty Little Liars: If Dr. Elliott Rollins Isn't Who He Says He Is . . . Then Who Is He?

As we get further into the seventh season of Pretty Little Liars, things are getting more intense. This week, we finally figured out who the girls are burying in the season premiere: it's Dr. Elliott Rollins himself. We've learned a lot about Elliott since he first showed up, but the latest shocker about his character is that he's probably using a stolen identity. We know this because Toby traces the good doctor's name back to a traffic infraction back in 1958. And, well, unless Rollins has found a stellar plastic surgeon, there's no way he's over 50 years old. This begs the question: who is he really? We've crafted a handful of theories that could link this mysterious man back to where it all began.

A Former Patient at Radley Sanitarium

Dr. Rollins may be a doctor, but he's clearly got a crazy side. We see how little control he has over his emotions as he tortures Alison in Welby Sanitarium. Plus, there's something seriously creepy about his surgical bag with all those sinister instruments. It's possible Elliott was once a lot worse. Maybe he spent time at Radley at the same time as Charlotte. After all, he had to have fallen in love with her somewhere, right?

Wren Kingston's Biological Brother

Elliott Rollins and Wren Kingston have a lot in common. We can't even decide which connection is more obvious: the fact that they're both British, or the fact that they're both doctors. Of course, the fact that they're British seems like too much of a coincidence. Two British doctors who have both appeared in Rosewood. They must be somehow linked, and given their approximate ages, a sibling relationship makes the most sense.

A Member of the Original "A" Team

There are a lot of aspects of Elliott's character that make him an excellent prospect for the original "A" team. Clearly, he's familiar with the liars and how they work. What's more, he's incredibly secretive, he's got a bunch of weird, scary medical instruments, he has a means of getting "A" all those medical supplies we've seen over the years, and he's got an affinity for masks. In fact, he knows how to make his own!

The Notorious (and Still Unidentified) Beach Hottie

The Notorious (and Still Unidentified) Beach Hottie

Even after last year's "Summer of Answers," it seems Pretty Little Liars left one stone unturned. It really looks as though the notorious "Beach Hottie" might have been forgotten. As a refresher, Ali has quite the scandalous Summer just before she gets abducted, way at the beginning of the series. We know Ali is involved with two men during this time: an individual called "Board Shorts," and another called "Beach Hottie."

We eventually learn that Ezra Fitz and Board Shorts are one and the same. Ezra and Ali dated that Summer in Cape May. But, well, we never hear of Beach Hottie again. We know Alison is very afraid of him. The only caveat is, if Rollins had been Beach Hottie, wouldn't Alison have recognized him? It's hard to say for sure. We do have to remember, though, that there's at least a seven year gap between Ali's disappearance and this semi-new five-year time jump. That's a long time.

If Rollins never checked into Radley Sanitarium as a patient, there's a strong possibility he worked there as a doctor. It provides another opportunity for him to have met Charlotte, long before her infamous "A" reveal. It also gives Dr. Rollins more motive, and a more tangled involvement in the mysterious roots of Rosewood. This could be the missing link we're looking for.

The Seemingly Forgotten "Varjak"

Here's another anonymous individual that seems to have fallen of the radar. We all remember Cyrus, right? The guy who admits to kidnapping Ali for all the time she went missing? Cyrus mysteriously gets into an accident that lands him at a burn unit in a local hospital. When the liars find him, he tells them it wasn't an accident, then scrawls "Varjack" (sic) on a piece of paper.

The gang immediately gets on the trail of this mysterious character, who's using a name that clearly references the character Varjak from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Ali has previously used the name "Holly Varjak" on a fake passport, so it can't all be coincidence. The thing is, we never get to the bottom of the Varjak mystery, which means Elliott could be our guy.

An Old Family Friend of the DiLaurentis Family

This one seems like a no-brainer, but bear with me. We know Elliott is friendly with Mary Drake, but what if it goes deeper than that? What if Elliott's family has close personal ties with the DiLaurentis family? Is it possible he's known Charlotte and Alison since they were young? Is it possible he's known Jessica DiLaurentis and Mary Drake his whole life? If his involvement in this whole thing goes back farther, he could play a much bigger part than we know.
