16 of Your Favorite Childhood Movies That Are Streaming on Netflix Right Now
Netflix has a ton of new stuff every month — including October! — but sometimes you just want to watch something that will make you nostalgic for the good old days. The streaming site has a lot of good options, including The Land Before Time, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Fantasia. Here are our top picks from the '70s, '80s, '90s, and more.
The Little Rascals (1994)
While we may all be griping about remakes now, The Little Rascals itself was a reboot of a TV series from the '50s. Despite its lack of an original premise, it still wiggled its way into our lil' hearts.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Anyone who's ever been homesick can relate to Steven Spielberg's iconic alien film.
The Land Before Time (1988)
Even thinking about this animated movie instinctively makes me reach for the tissues. Who didn't want to be best adventure friends with Littlefoot?
Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)
If you grew up with Pee-wee Herman, you'll be glad to know this hit is available to stream.
The Prince of Egypt (1998)
The Prince of Egypt has gotten left behind in the boom of animated movies that have come after it, but we'll never forget Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey's collaboration, "When You Believe."
Antz (1998)
Those of the mind that Antz is a superior movie to A Bug's Life (myself included) can rewatch this witty Woody Allen film on repeat.
Paulie (1998)
Remember Paulie?! This is the perfect throwback, as long as you're not afraid of birds . . . like a friend of mine. (Fine, it's me.)
Harry and the Hendersons (1987)
Harry and the Hendersons might be one of the strangest family films out there, but it's also one of the greatest.
Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)
If you didn't see this supernatural adventure film as a kid, you truly missed out. Now's your chance to witness young Kim Richards in her most notable role!
Ernest Saves Christmas (1988)
If you weren't a Pee-wee kid, you were an Ernest kid. I couldn't get enough of Jim Varney's alter ego, and this Christmas movie is still in my childhood Hall of Fame.
Three Little Pigs (1933)
This short film is the definition of a Disney classic. It's even the color version!
The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue (1997)
Just thinking about The Brave Little Toaster gives me all the feels. Netflix doesn't have the 1987 original, but it does have both the 1997 movie and the follow-up, The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977)
Winnie the Pooh has just as many movies on Netflix as Mickey! In addition to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, there's Pooh's Heffalump Movie, Piglet's Big Movie, Springtime With Roo, A Very Merry Pooh Year, and more.
Robin Hood (1973)
There are actually several Robin Hood-related projects available on Netflix right now, including the Kevin Costner version and The BBC's series. If you're looking for a family-friendly version, Disney's animated one is your best bet.
Fantasia (1940)
Netflix happens to have both the 1940 version of Fantasia and the updated one, Fantasia 2000. Both are great, but you really can't top the original.
Tarzan (1999)
When it comes to the story of Tarzan, it doesn't get any better than 1999's version featuring Phil Collins on vocals. Having said that, Disney has a full stock of animated Tarzan sequels.
