Our Final 6 Suspects For "A.D." on Pretty Little Liars

The Best Explanation: Ezra goes back to the very, very beginning of everything. He was Board Shorts during that fateful Summer with Ali. There's a strong chance he mistakenly got Ali pregnant that Summer. Maybe he's trying to get back at her and her friends for almost ruining his life. Or maybe, just maybe, he's somehow entangled in the mess that has become the DiLaurentis family. Did he know Charles long before she became CeCe Drake? You have to consider the possibility.

The Most Damning Evidence: There has been so much unexplained evidence over the seasons (unexplained absences, unresolved clues, and even context clues left by "A" in texts and emails). Perhaps the craziest, though, is Ezra's stint as a red herring for "A" in season four. He has the capacity to act as this omniscient figure, he has a dark side, and he's been around since the start. In season seven, he's been missing quite a lot. Is he really taking care of Nicole? Or is he just using her as an alibi?

The Best Explanation: If Jason is at the bottom of this mystery, the most logical conclusion would trace back to the N.A.T. Club. In the earlier seasons of the show, we learn that Ali blackmails the members of the club (Jason, Ian Thomas, and Garrett Reynolds) and threatens to expose them for the perverted videos they have hidden away. And maybe it starts that way. But with the deaths of Garrett and Ian, perhaps Jason's mission has shifted. Maybe he just wants revenge. Maybe he wants the liars to pay for all the damage they've caused over the last decade.

In reality, that could just be the tip of the iceberg. Maybe Jason has somehow connected himself to Mary Drake. Maybe Jason knows about Charlotte and wants to avenge her. There are so many ways to weave Jason back into everything that you just can't ignore him as a suspect.

The Most Damning Evidence: The best way to pin it on Jason is simply to remember he's a DiLaurentis. This means he's directly related to Charlotte DiLaurentis, to his mother Jessica, to Mary Drake, and to the Hastings family. He's kind of at the center of everything. Jason has appeared in the seventh season of the show (at least the first half, anyway), so it's safe to say he's still in the game and still in and around Rosewood. We know he's involved in the Carissimi Group (which also has ties to Charlotte), and we know he's been conspicuously absent in the latest crop of episodes. This gives him room to execute the revenge plot to end all revenge plots.

The Best Explanation: Spencer can only be "A.D." if you subscribe to one of two theories: either she's got multiple personalities or she has an evil twin. The former makes sense, especially in the context of season 7B. Spencer's behavior has been hostile, even borderline erratic. If she has a darker side hidden inside her, she could have been running this operation the whole time. It's believable because it would explain how the real Spencer has managed to remain relatively oblivious this whole time.

The possibility of a Spencer twin is even more likely. Based on the convoluted history of Mary Drake, it's not hard to believe that two babies were born on that night. Spencer went to the Hastings family, and Mary hid the other child away. This could explain that strange dream sequence in Radley, where we watch a Spencer-like child dance through the halls. This could also explain all of the twin imagery that's been layered into the show since season one.

The Most Damning Evidence: As mentioned above, Spencer has been acting very strange for different parts of season seven. This could absolutely be her alternate personality or twin stepping in and acting as her. The Radley dream sequence (and the fact that she's Mary Drake's daughter) are two more huge hints that there's an unmistakable mystery in Spencer's past. But there's more. Spencer has always been the smartest liar and the most capable of betraying her best friends. And the fact that she spends time in Radley as a teenager is our best hint that she's a little unhinged.

The Best Explanation: Wren has always been deeply woven into Radley Sanitarium. He worked at the hospital while both Charlotte and Mona were patients there. There's a strong possibility he was in love with Charlotte, or at the very least took a special liking to her. And, honestly, who knows where else he might be involved in this mystery? His British accent ties him to Archer Dunhill (who, by the way, has those ominous A.D. initials). His age and tendency to hit on underage girls could mean he somehow met Ali. Any of these tenuous tie-ins could provide fuel for Wren's mission.

The Most Damning Evidence: Wren has always been presented as a shady character. He hits on Spencer while he's engaged to Melissa, and he even flirts with Hanna at one point. He's a doctor, which would explain a lot of the medical abilities "A.D." seems to possess. We even see Wren in season seven, having a rather intense conversation with a pretty manic Spencer (or . . . Spencer's twin, right?). The fact that he's still talking to Spencer, and Melissa for that matter, means he can be linked to two other suspects on this list. Even if "A.D." doesn't end up being Wren, I find it almost impossible that he's not somehow involved.

The Best Explanation: To this day, it's possible that Lucas has never been able to recover from the girls' intense bullying. The years of torture and emotional abuse are enough to drive anyone wild. Lucas's hatred for Ali has always been palpable. In fact, he's been a frequent "A" suspect throughout the entire series because of this obvious disdain. At one point, he's clearly on the "A" team but isn't running the show. Maybe he decides to take the game into his own hands once Charlotte gets murdered. And let's not forget that Lucas grew up with Charles (who, as we know, becomes Charlotte). Finally, he sees the opportunity to make everyone pay for what they've done to him . . . and for the death of his childhood friend.

The Most Damning Evidence: Lucas's connection to Charles aka Charlotte is likely the best and most concrete evidence we've got. Circumstantially, though, there's a lot more to consider. Lucas has an apartment in Rosewood, which he could very well be using as a lair. He's also rich and a tech genius. It's clear Lucas has the money to pay for (and program) the kind of technology "A.D." needs to terrorize the girls. Lucas has always been shady, so why should we trust him now?

The Best Explanation: Another Hastings! Melissa has always been on the inside when it comes to dealing with the "A" game. She was tangentially involved in the N.A.T. Club, and when the show starts, she's engaged to Ian. She loses him, of course, and then she remains close to Wren (another previous "A" suspect) throughout the seasons. Melissa is constantly frustrated and angry with Spencer and all her friends. It's never been a secret that she dislikes them. At one point, she claims she's trying to protect Spencer, but that just confirms she's got a lot of secrets we don't know.

There are more reasons to suspect Melissa is running the show. Maybe she wants to avenge Ian's death. Maybe she wants to make Spencer and her friends pay for ruining her life. Maybe she hates the fact that Spencer isn't a true Hastings. No matter what the motive, Melissa is the perfect candidate for a menacing, cruel person who just wants to make the liars suffer.

The Most Damning Evidence: One sentence: Melissa is the one who kills Bethany Young. This casts Melissa as a person who has something to hide, who has a dark side, and who has murderous tendencies. Melissa has been tangled in nearly everything. She's so involved in the night of Ali's disappearance. She always seems to have a hand in the latest trouble. Logic would argue it's because she's the one running the show.
