Still Looking For an Adequate Seinfeld Replacement? Here Are 5 Options

Unless you've completely missed the pop culture memo, you've likely heard of (or avidly watched) Seinfeld. The classic sitcom about nothing has been off of the air for 19 years, but for those who diligently watched Elaine, Kramer, Jerry, and George live their New York lives (without soup but with muffin tops), there's a void that no amount of rewatching will fill.

The good news is that there's a lot of great television out there right now, and we've tracked down six currently running shows that have elements of Seinfeld that will leave you laughing, make you think, and yada yada yada, all the same.

01
Curb Your Enthusiasm
HBO

Curb Your Enthusiasm

If you're looking for a show reminiscent of Seinfeld, look no further than the show that features its writer and creator: Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David plays an amped-up version of himself (who also happens to be the inspiration for George Costanza) who grumpily asserts his opinions and makes enemies with reckless abandon. Fans of those ever-so-memorable, cringe-worthy Seinfeld moments need only to watch one episode of Curb to find themselves peeking out from behind their couch pillows while reveling in the schadenfreude.

Watch it on HBO Now.

02
Veep
HBO

Veep

Julia Louis-Dreyfus takes the cake (and the presidency) in Veep. It's a raucous comedy that allows Dreyfus to do what she does best: make people laugh until they cry. Elaine fans will enjoy season after season of Selina Meyer's shenanigans and perhaps even see Veep's hapless narcissist as an alter ego of Seinfeld's leading lady.

03
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Everett Collection

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Many have compared this madcap comedy about five awful friends to Seinfeld, and for good reason. The show details the inane everyday dramas of quirky individuals running a bar in Philadelphia. The sitcom was ahead of its time when it came out in 2005, and, like Seinfeld, the jokes still land today. Season 13 is coming in 2018!

04
Arrested Development
Everett Collection

Arrested Development

Similar to Seinfeld, the characters in Arrested Development consistently steal the show with their never-ending stream of bonkers situations. Arrested Development also relies on a steady stream of exceedingly good writing, razor-sharp acting, and cringe-worthy moments that keep you coming back for more.

Watch it on Netflix.

05
Difficult People
Everett Collection

Difficult People

In the modern comedy Difficult People, the characters are deliciously flawed, the dialogue is quick, and the shenanigans are endless. The two main characters, Julie and Billy, are both 30-somethings living in New York City and working to become famous with their comedy careers. The trouble is, it's not really working for them. Like Seinfeld, Difficult People unabashedly puts horrible people front and center as main characters, and like Seinfeld, the results are unforgettable.

Watch it on Hulu.
