A Studio Ghibli Pop-Up Is Coming to Turn Your Life Into Totoro's Mystical Forest

Most folks who grew up watching Japanese film icon Hayao Miyazaki's work have dreamt, at one point or another, of exploring the enchanted settings from films like Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service. And now, for the 30th anniversary of the most nostalgic of all Studio Ghibli films — My Neighbor Totoro — you'll be able to do just that. Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya USA and Her Universe, our favorite source for geek-chic "fangirl fashion," are set to collaborate on an exciting San Francisco pop-up experience that will bring Totoro to life for fans of all ages.

POPSUGAR has received the very first renderings of the pop-up shop — you can view them below — which will be open for fans Feb. 24 through Mar. 18 and offers exclusive Studio Ghibli merchandise to visitors. The experience space will transform into the enchanted forest where Totoro and his fellow forest spirits live, including mesmerizing art of characters and even Totoro's large "tree" in the center of the pop-up. In keeping with Miyazaki's commitment to nature and conservation, the experience will feature eco-friendly fixtures and utilize recycled materials to create the magical forest wonderland.

As the pop-up experience approaches, both Her Universe and Kinokuniya USA will share special peeks at merchandise, the imaginative space, and exciting announcements.
