Halloween may be half a year away, but you can be scared all year long with these great horror offerings from Netflix!
If you want straight-up slasher flick with a whole lot of laughs, revisit Scream 2, which is an excellent horror sequel. For some horror with a side of religion, try the supercreepy The Reaping with Hilary Swank and Idris Elba. Or if stranger-in-the-woods, tension-filled stalker movies are your horror subgenre of choice, give Desolution a look. There's something new on Netflix for every type of horror movie fan!

The Reaping
This psychological horror thriller stars Hilary Swank and Idris Elba as people who investigate claims of miracles. When they venture to a small town called Haven, they find a religious cult and a lot of unexplained events.

Red Dragon
This 2002 prequel to Silence of the Lambs sees Anthony Hopkins reprise his Oscar-winning role of incarcerated serial killer Hannibal Lecter — only this movie starts out before Lecter has been caught. Edward Norton stars as Will Graham, the FBI agent who will eventually put Lecter in prison.

Scream 2
The Woodsboro kids are all grown up and heading off to college in this sequel to the smash hit Scream. Joining original cast members Neve Campbell, Jamie Kennedy, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette are Jerry O'Connell, Timothy Olyphant, Elise Neal, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. It's not quite as great as the original, but what sequels are?

This Netflix original is more thriller than straight horror, but it still sounds pretty intense. Set in a futuristic world where privacy no longer exists, Clive Owen plays a detective who investigates a serial assassin who has been erased from all visual records.

Desolation
A young mother, her son, and her best friend go hiking in order to scatter her late husband's ashes, but on the way home, a creepy loner begins following them and a series of disturbing encounters ensues. It is a slow-burn horror film, but definitely worth a watch.
