Hawaii: Kaui Hart Hemmings

Kaui Hart Hemmings grew up in Oahu, HI, and her adoptive father is world-famous surfer and politician Fred Hemmings Jr. She wrote about their relationship in a 2008 Guardian article. Her debut novel, The Descendants, is also set in Hawaii and was adapted into a movie starring George Clooney.
