Zombieland 2: The Official Title, Release Date, Trailer, and More Exciting News

Zombieland is coming back from the dead. The Hollywood Reporter learned a while back that the 2009 cult-favorite post-apocalyptic comedy was officially getting a sequel starring the complete original cast: Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin.
"This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time — and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail," Columbia Pictures President Sanford Panitch told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. "These are some of the most in-demand actors, and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters."
Now that we have the first trailer for the film — and the information that the movie is being released in October 2019, exactly 10 years after the original — there's no better time to brush up on all the other details we have about the long-awaited sequel.

The Plot
The sequel will follow the fearless yet dysfunctional crew as they travel from the White House and through the United States, only to encounter new, evolved types of zombies and, of course, fellow human survivors.

The Cast
As previously mentioned, the core cast is confirmed to reprise their roles, with Stone as Wichita, Eisenberg as Columbus, Harrelson as Tallahassee, and Breslin as Little Rock. The characters use city names as their monikers to avoid getting too attached to each other, although Wichita does reveal to Columbus that her real name is Krista.
In November, Variety announced that Zoey Deutch was joining the cast, and with the arrival of the trailer we know she'll be playing a ditsy blonde named Madison who joins the group. Avan Jogia is also on board as a hippie character named Berkely who hits it off with Little Rock, while Luke Wilson, Rosario Dawson, and Thomas Middleditch round out the cast.

The Production Team
Ruben Fleischer, who recently directed Venom, will return to direct the sequel. The first film's screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, will also be returning fresh off working on Deadpool 2.
