Gladys Knight Is a Vision as She Performs a Soulful Rendition of the National Anthem

Georgia-born music legend Gladys Knight came back home just to kick off Super Bowl LIII. The soul singer was a vision in white as she performed a stirring rendition of the national anthem in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The game has been shrouded in controversy concerning how the NFL has handled Colin Kaepernick and other players kneeling in protest of the oppression of people of color and police brutality during the anthem. Knight, who was announced as a performer on Jan. 17, explained her decision saying, "I am proud to use my voice to unite and represent our country in my hometown of Atlanta. The NFL recently announced their new social justice platform Inspire Change, and I am honored to be a part of its inaugural year." Watch Gladys's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" ahead!
