Forget Golden Tickets — Game of Thrones Fans Are on the Hunt For 6 Hidden Iron Thrones!

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die — or in this case, you could earn yourself a spot on the Iron Throne itself, courtesy of the Game of Thrones crew. With the show's final season right around the corner, HBO challenged fans to take a page out of the Stark handbook and travel throughout Westeros (or the real world, in this case) on a scavenger hunt in search of six Iron Thrones hidden across the globe. The clues are puzzling to say the least.

Images of all six of the hidden thrones were posted as cryptic clues, showing some of the scenery around each throne and hinting at where fans could search for the most coveted seat in all of the Seven Kingdoms. As of Thursday, resourceful and dedicated fans have uncovered the location of all six thrones, including the Throne of the Crypt, which was at Fort Totten Torpedo Battery in Queens, New York!

The other five thrones were spread out worldwide, including the Throne of the North (Björkliden, Sweden), Throne of Valyria (Coliseum Beach in Brazil), Throne of Ice (Babcock Seeps in Canada), Throne of Joy (Castillo Atienza Guadalajara in Spain), and the Throne of the Forest (Puzzlewood in England). The winners have since been rewarded with their very own crowns, which bear a striking resemblance to that of the late King Robert Baratheon.

HBO first announced the Quest For the Throne on Monday, March 18, as one of three challenges posed to fans to promote the premiere of the show's final season. In partnership with the American Red Cross, HBO created the Bleed For the Throne campaign to encourage fans of the series to donate their own blood after witnessing all the bloodshed in Westeros. The network also hired artists from around the world to Create For the Throne and put their own spin on some of the show's most iconic props.

Considering how patient we've had to be with the the show's time sequence, it's no surprise that a real-life Game of Thrones quest would take some serious time and traveling to complete. But, according to a countdown clock on the official Quest For the Throne site, the challenge was meant to continue until 2 p.m. ET on April 2 — which means Game of Thrones fans were ahead of the game. We can only hope HBO will send fans on another quest sometime soon to give everyone a chance to earn a crown of their very own.
