Kacey Musgraves Tries to Start a Proper Country Chant at Coachella: "I Didn't Say F*cking 'Yee!'"

When Kacey Musgraves gives you instructions, follow them. During her Coachella set on Friday, the 30-year-old country singer hit the stage to give the crowd a yee-hawing good time but hit a tiny (and hilarious) hiccup in the process. While jamming out to the music, Musgraves got the crowd hyped by starting a chant. "When I say 'yee,' you say 'haw!'" she told the audience. It was going pretty smoothly until the festivalgoers got a little zealous and yelled their part out too early. "I didn't say f*cking 'yee!'" Musgraves responded.

OK, Musgraves did turn the microphone toward them, which might have made them think it was their turn to shout. But in her defense, she didn't say "When I turn the mic, you say 'yee!'" So maybe she was just testing out their listening skills and playing a little joke on them. Either way, her response was too funny, and the audience still had a blast as she sang other hits such as "Slow Burn" and "Butterflies."

During her performance of "High Horse," Musgraves — who looked stunning in an orange fringe dress — also brought out 90-year-old internet personality Baddie Winkle who danced along with her on stage. The two joined hands and spun around while colorful graphics flashed on a screen behind them and a giant disco ball rotated.

The crowd might have missed their "haw" mark, but it was all a part of the fun. View more clips and pictures from her set ahead!
