That same summer, Octavia Smith journeys to London in hopes of finding out what happened to her brother, a former soldier who never returned home. Almost 30 years later, Elizabeth discovers a medal that links her missing mother to Octavia's brother, sending her on a journey to deliver it to Octavia and recall what happened that one summer in 1923.
