SZA and Doja Cat Reunite For "Kill Bill (Remix)"

More than five years after her game-changing debut album, SZA finally released her long-awaited follow-up, "SOS," on Dec. 9, 2022, which has since broken several records — including sitting atop the Billboard 200 albums chart for 10 nonconsecutive weeks. SZA recently completed the first leg of her "SOS" tour and extended it on April 11 with more US and international dates this summer. But before then, it seems she'll finally drop the rumored deluxe version of her second album on account of her latest single: "Kill Bill (Remix)," featuring Doja Cat.

The "Kiss Me More" collaborators teased their new song on social media on April 13 before they dropped the track at midnight. ".@sza sis... I did something bad," Doja Cat tweeted, to which SZA replied, "Jesus.. what is it." Doja Cat then quote-tweeted the singer's response to announce their revenge remix.

SZA's sophomore-album era was a long time in the making after the monumental success of her 2017 debut LP, "Ctrl," but fans are loving her latest run. In a March 2023 interview with POPSUGAR, one of SZA's producers, ThankGod4Cody, opened up about what it was like to work on SZA's record-breaking album, noting that they locked in on finishing "SOS" just two months before it dropped. Of its massive success, the producer said, "I knew it was going to go crazy but it was impossible to gauge this, whatever it's doing right now. But it's beautiful to see it. It's all deserving to her for sure."

Less than a month before "SOS" was released, SZA opened up about how much of an emotional toll the recording process was in her Billboard cover story, published on Nov. 16. "I could literally burst into tears and run through this wall at any moment. I am effectively falling apart," she confessed of trying to meet fans' expectations. "But it's not like, the album pressure . . . It's just, life is f—king hard. To be expected to do anything at a high level while life is life-ing is f—king crazy. This isn't meant for a person; it's meant for a machine."

The latest phase of SZA's career seemingly began in December 2020 after she released her "Good Days" track — which was, at the time, her first solo single in two years. One year later, she followed that up with "I Hate U" before she dropped the cinematic visual for her single "Shirt," starring LaKeith Stanfield, on Oct. 28, 2022. Shortly after her "SNL" performance in December 2022, SZA shared a teaser for the studio version of "Blind" on Instagram, which she sang on the sketch-comedy show.
