Dad Calls Out Science Lunchbox For Boys
This Dad Is Furious Over a Lunchbox Labeled For Boys Just Because It's Science-Themed
Hey @johnlewisretail. What is it about this lunchbox which makes it unsuitable for my daughter? Too sciencey? @LetToysBeToys @PinkstinksUK pic.twitter.com/ztLscadDsB

One fed-up dad is tired of kids' toys and gear being divided by gender.
Joshua Peck, a father and politician in the United Kingdom, shared his upset over seeing a space-print lunchbox marked as a boy's product. He tweeted a photo of the science-themed bag sold at John Lewis as well as its tag specifying that this item is intended for boys. "Hey @johnlewisretail. What is it about this lunchbox which makes it unsuitable for my daughter? Too sciencey?" he captioned the photo.
As the father of a 4-year-old daughter, Joshua is constantly shocked by the gendered messages that retailers send to small kids. "Children learn everything they know from watching what adults do and say, and when we call girls bossy, say boys shouldn't cry, or talk about boys' jobs and girls' jobs, we limit their potential hugely," Joshua told the Huffington Post. "I want my daughter to feel able to do what she wants to do ― be a mother, a fire fighter or a scientist ― based on her talents and ambitions, not what society thinks is appropriate for her to do. It's really not that radical, and it's sad that it still needs saying."
