Disney Aulani Painted Sky Experience Review
If Your Kid Loves Moana, You Need to Give Them Disney's New Painted Sky Experience
Families well-versed in Disney vacations know the allure of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique — a salon offering princess and prince makeovers for little guests at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and on Disney cruise lines. But for those parents heading to Hawaii, the "Cinderella experience" gets an island-style upgrade.
Aulani, the Disney resort just outside Honolulu, just opened Painted Sky: HI Style Studio — and it's now offering a variety of mini makeovers, namely ones inspired by the hit film Moana, for kids ages 3 to 12 years old.
The packages range from $150 to upwards of $600 (we're talking ballgown with heirloom-quality fabrics and sterling silver jewelry), and allow boys and girls to transform into mermaids or get styled before big events like the weekly luau. Most every package also offers a pool-ready alternative, which swaps out dress-up costumes for themed swimsuits and rash guards.
My own 4-year-old daughter had the chance to experience the Painted Sky on a recent trip to the resort, and there was no question that she'd become her favorite wayfinding princess of Motunui. We opted for the "I Am Moana" package ($175), and here's a breakdown of what the spa session was like from start to finish.
