A Dog Was Returned to the Shelter For Being "Too Nice," and We're Truly Confused

Unfortunately, dogs getting adopted and then brought back to the animal shelter because they don't get along with their new family does happen from time to time. However, the reason one dog owner in Atlanta, GA, brought his gorgeous Boxer mix to Fulton County Animal Services has us completely scratching our heads. Apparently, Helena is "too nice" and wanted to be around him all the time.

Excuse me? What exactly is the issue here, my dude?

Karen Hirsch, spokesperson for the LifeLine Animal Shelter in Atlanta, had a bit more info to rev up our engines even further. "It was obvious the gentleman was looking for a guard/protection dog," she told TODAY. "He also suggested she be adopted by a woman 'because they are more into that petting stuff.'"

(Ahh, yes . . . "petting stuff." So typical of women to be into that.)

Helena was recently taken to LifeLine, where she's been affectionately nicknamed "Velcro dog," seeing as she never wants to leave the sides of the humans she loves. "This Velcro dog sounds just about perfect to us," LifeLine wrote in a post to Facebook featuring a few photos of the adorable pooch. "And we know there's a family out there waiting to spend their nights binge-watching Netflix and snuggling with this sweet velvet hippo." Hirsch added: "Ideally, we want her to go to a home where she can be smothered in love. And where someone can be the soft side to her Velcro."

If you're interested in adopting Helena, you can email adoptions@fultonanimalservices.com for more information or visit her official adoption page. She deserves a home with humans who will love her as much as she unconditionally loves all people — nice people, at least.
