Put your youngster in charge of keeping the family pet's tummy full.

They may not be able to manage the detergent or even deal with the dials, but little kids can throw dirty duds into the hamper and separate the darks from the whites. Older children can fold and put things away in their perfect places.

Not only does this chore get the lawn clean, but it gets kids outside and building their tiny muscles.

If your recycling has to be separated, hand over a pair of gloves and put your child to work.

When it's time for the furry family member to relieve himself, have the youngster help him out with a walk around the block or a squat in the backyard.

When the family car is looking a little rough around the edges, ask your little one to lend a hand with a sponge and a hose. If the inside could also use some TLC, give them a handheld vacuum to clean the seats.
