Being friends with Stephanie Doggett on social media pretty much guarantees you one thing: seeing daily snapshots revealing what life is like for her family of five.

As the mother of three boys 6 years old and under, Stephanie has found a way to cherish both the big and small moments among the chaos while also sharing these milestones with loved ones. Before the start of 2015, a blogger inspired this mom from Maryland to take part in a daily photo challenge. Determined to see it through, Stephanie spent the following 365 days posting one snapshot a day, with the same personal hashtag — #thedailydogg2015 — as well as the day number, to track her year's events.

Although this project definitely added some stress on occasion, it also forced Stephanie to take a moment each day to recognize a silly, playful, or profound moment and add it to a now cherished collection. From mom moments like marking when she was able to sneak away to get her hair done to heart-melting sibling embraces, each post now has meaning. "I have pictures of so many milestones, but most importantly just the average day of cuddles or basement soccer goal celebrations or the last time I got my hair highlighted," Stephanie told POPSUGAR. "It's basically become my kids' baby books."

After a full year, Stephanie decided to do it again for 2016 and her husband, Michael, has enjoyed being able to see how much the three boys have changed thanks to his wife's diligent photography. As her second year comes to an end, Stephanie is planning to turn each yearly photo collection into a Chat Books poster for the family's new home and will be keeping up the challenge for at least one more year. However, before new parents take on this photo resolution, here are 10 things to know courtesy of this experienced photo-challenge mama.

Some Days Will Be Much Easier Than Others

Some Days Will Be Much Easier Than Others

For Stephanie, the easiest part is documenting her kids. However, some days the hardest part is narrowing down her snapshots and picking the one best photo, while other days it's feeling the need to get a random picture at 11 p.m. because she didn't have anything from the day.

02
It Doesn’t Have to Be All Your Kids

It Doesn’t Have to Be All Your Kids

Although Stephanie says her photos are 99 percent her kids or family moments, she also uses it as a chance to celebrate mommy wins, including finishing a project, a reunion with friends, or having the chance to pamper herself.

03
Being Able to Look Back Is Useful

Being Able to Look Back Is Useful

Stephanie has looked back for a variety of reasons, from tracking down the day and place something occurred to finding a picture of herself for a hair dresser to repeat a haircut. She also plans on printing large collage posters compiling the highlights of each year. "Just recently, I looked back to just look through the year," Stephanie said. "The boys change so much!"

04
It Isn’t Only About the Major Milestones

It Isn’t Only About the Major Milestones

From sleepovers with cousins to special parent one-on-one bonding dates, Stephanie and her kids will be able to look back on a variety of meaningful moments that might otherwise be forgotten. "I have documented two full years, day to day of our life," Stephanie said. "I have pictures of so many milestones, but most importantly just the average day of cuddles or basement soccer goal celebrations or the last time I got my hair highlighted."

05
It Isn't About Forcing Your Kids to Pose

Sometimes Levi, Ari, and Sam want their pictures taken and will eagerly ask to pose for a photo. Other times, Stephanie grabs a blurred photo during the chaos and both are a perfect reflection of her family.

Don’t Underestimate the Commitment

Don’t Underestimate the Commitment

"It may sound silly, but it's a huge commitment. There are days I have 30 pictures to look through and others where I have nothing," Stephanie said. "My second year, I was more inclined to do a 'latergram' than to just take a picture to take a picture. But, if you put forth the effort, you'll come out with an amazing story of the year."

This Becomes the Modern Baby Book

It isn't easy to keep up to date with one, let alone three, baby books, but this photo challenge has given her boys a new version that the family adds to continuously. Having daily photos captures what, where, and when moments happen allows them to always be able to look back on them thanks to simple captions without major effort.

This Is Also a Gift For Family

This Is Also a Gift For Family

No matter where her family lives, Stephanie's loved ones are able to feel like they are following along with the boys' lives. "If they don't see them for a week, they'll be able to see what they are up to," Stephanie said. "Plus, Michael loves to be able to look back at how the kids change."

09
It Is Added Pressure

It Is Added Pressure

Stephanie does feel guilty when she misses a day because she likes to finish what she starts. "I also have this weird idea that a lot of people are following along (even when I don't get a lot of 'likes') and they would be disappointed!" Stephanie said. "Forgetting what day it is [during the countdown] is also hard. I can't tell you how many times I've had to edit the post to get the correct number on the picture."

The Hashtags Will Come in Handy

The Hashtags Will Come in Handy

In addition to the family hashtag, #thedailydogg2015 or #thedailydogg2016, Stephanie also tags her sons' first and middle names in the photos they are in so she can easily see their own collections and make individual books of their memories.
