Muppet Babies Reboot on Disney Junior

Disney Junior Is Rebooting Muppet Babies, and We're Feeling Super Nostalgic

Disney Junior is rebooting Muppet Babies with a reimagined version of the series that features the adorable and hilarious baby Muppets we all know and love, as well as Miss Nanny. The show about the babies' playroom adventures, which originally aired from 1984 to 1991, will hit Disney Junior this coming March with a very exciting voice actor taking over the iconic role of Miss Nanny from Barbara Billingsley (Leave It to Beaver): Jenny Slate, of Disney's Zootopia.

Slate, who also lent her voice to The Secret Life of Pets and Nick Kroll's Netflix show Big Mouth and appeared on Parks and Recreation, says she was so excited to hear that Muppet Babies was coming back to television, as she watched the original show when she was growing up.

"I was so excited when [Disney] asked me to be Miss Nanny," Slate said. "I think that Miss Nanny really pays attention to each of the Muppets, and she sort of accepts their nature. She's not trying to get Animal to be straight-laced and not be Animal. She's a good nanny and a caretaker for them because she nurtures what they have inside of themselves, which is really, really sweet."

Tom Warburton, executive producer of the show, says that Slate is the perfect person for the role. "She just really has that quirky voice, which has this little twist of fun to it and this little squeak . . . that you couldn't put on; it has to be natural."

Miss Nanny's character will continue to only appear from the torso down, as in the original series, but in the reboot, she'll sport a different pair of tights each episode that matches the overall theme.

Check out a sneak preview of Slate's role on the show above, and tune in to Disney Junior this March to watch the series with your kids.
