If Spring is a time of renewal, then we're ready to shake things up a bit. From new bedding for tots and teens and new clothes that are right on point for the season to new toys that the whole family can enjoy, we've got our eye on some great finds for the entire family this month. Read on for our must haves for the month of April!
1 Kelly Slater For PBteen
Hang ten, kiddo! Pro surfer Kelly Slater's collaboration with PBteen is fresh, cool, and the brand's most eco-friendly line to date. The capsule collection includes more than 40 pieces of furniture, bedding, art, lighting . . . basically everything you need to give your child's room the vibe of a seaside sanctuary. "I'm honored that PBteen has seen me as someone who can help a broader audience understand the need to use recycled, repurposed and organic materials," Slater said. Pieces in the collection are all designed with sustainability in mind, including the use of materials like FSC-certified wood, recycled fabrics, and 100 percent organic cotton.
2 Hello Flo New Mom Care Packages
Remember that genius "First Moon Party" video that Hello Flo, the period subscription box service, rolled out last year? The clever company is back with something special for a more adult audience — a series of three new mom care packages ($35-$80) that include goodies that you'll really put to use in that postpartum phase. Bamboobies nipple cream and breast pads, undies from Dear Kate, a postpartum survival guide, and more practical treats are packaged so that they're ready for gift giving.
3 Emu Littles Bunny Boots
Has there ever been an Easter basket filler more adorable than these? We think not. The Bunny Boots ($89) from Emu's adorable Little Creatures line are made of warm merino wool — go up a size so they'll still fit next Winter.
4 Aden + Anais Toddler Bedding
Aden + Anais has gone from swaddling our newborns in its signature muslin blankets to keeping infants happy and warm with its crib sheets, and now the brand has expanded to include toddler bedding ($150-$170). And it's really, really good. The sheets' smart design combines a fitted and flat sheet into one, ensuring that toddler toes stay warm and cozy all night long. The set includes a toddler-sized pillow and pillowcase, a combo fitted-flat sheet, and a blanket in the perfect weight.
5 Hatch Collection's Hatch Body Line
Our only knock against the uberchic maternity line Hatch Collection? For some body types, its signature loose, flowing silhouettes present a challenge. Shoppers spoke, and the designers listened, introducing a capsule collection of five formfitting basics known as Hatch Body ($58-$158) in the softest cotton and jersey fabrics.
6 Gap Kids x Junk Food's Keith Haring and Basquiat Collection
Inspire your little artist with the works of Keith Haring and Basquiat — on their shirts, shoes, and more. The latest collaboration between Gap Kids and Junk Food features playful and kid-friendly designs from two of the contemporary art world's biggest names. The collection ranges from $20-$40, and while it officially launches on April 7, play around on Gap.com for a few minutes, and you'll find that a few pieces are already popping up on there.
7 Moulin Roty Cinema Box
There's something about some old-fashioned movie fun that can get the entire family revved up for a night at home. Moulin Roty's Cinema Box ($40) encourages kids to play "movie theater" with a box filled with tickets, a pad of marquee sign paper, and five story discs that can be attached to the flashlight and projected onto the wall. Think of all of the creativity that can come from one little box.
8 Zoli Pip & Squeak
Zoli's popular water bottles are a favorite in our home, but their aluminum design isn't always conducive to our activities. The bottles will now come in a safe plastic form in both toddler (Pip) and big-kid (Squeak) sizes, and trust us, the flip-open top is easy enough for tots to do on their own but strong enough to prevent leaks.
9 Swenyo
Teens and tweens often get the shaft when it comes to room design, so when we heard there was a new brand out there making bedding just for this age group, we were intrigued. Swenyo oozes California cool with its modern patterns and design. The company is ingrained in its local surfing and skateboarding cultures, thanks to its founder, Ricardo Camargo, who used to work for Burton Snowboards.
10 Calm the F*ck Down
If you have friends who are expecting and they're a little high strung, do them a favor and pick up a copy of Calm the F*ck Down ($14). Written by David Vienna and based on his blog The Daddy Complex, the book offers fun, relatable advice for parents who just might be taking the mom and dad thing a bit too seriously.
11 Kardashian Kids Heads to Nordstrom
We've been pleasantly surprised by how much we've been loving the Kardashian Kids clothing collection. The pieces are fun, modest, soft, and reasonably priced. Until now, they've only been available at Babies"R"Us, but beginning April 13, the collection moves to Nordstrom. Nordstrom will have some of its own exclusive pieces, but almost the entire Spring collection (which now includes boys!) can be found at the department store.
