Surprise Rainbow Twins Gender Reveal

Why This Couple's Gender Reveal For Their Rainbow Baby Was a Huge Surprise to Guests

A Double Rainbow Surprise!

"We were first pregnant 5 years ago and miscarried towards the end of the first trimester. Within a few months we were pregnant with our son, Bennett, who will be 4 this fall. A few months after Bennett turned 1, we miscarried for the second time, and then for the 3rd time about 4 months after that. At that point we weren't able to even get pregnant for over a year. It was decided I needed to undergo a massive amount of blood work and tests in order to see if there's any underlying issue. We saw I have Factor V (a blood clotting disorder) and that my body 'shouldn't be able to sustain pregnancies without medical intervention.' We were told Bennett was a true miracle because there wasn't any reason as to why my body didn't clot during his pregnancy! A few months after the diagnosis passed and with many days of prayer, being on a prescribed blood thinner, and more prayer, we found out we were pregnant! Here comes the even bigger surprise....During the first ultrasound at 7 weeks, the specialist asked 'If we were ready?!' We asked, 'Ready for?' And she just smiled, held up 2 fingers and said...'There's 2!' Awe immediately hit our faces and along with tears in our eyes, our hearts became overwhelmed at the thought of receiving a DOUBLE rainbow! We decided right away to keep the "T" word (twins) a secret until we did a gender reveal. It's too difficult emotionally to tell family we're pregnant...just to have to go back and take that joy away from them, all while dealing with our own loss and grief. So during the gender reveal, we had a hidden box ready to be thrown in last minute...to completely throw everyone off. Needless to say it worked! My husband has said how 'It feels like the whole world is on our side and everyone's prayers and support is humbling to partake in.' He's right. Our support system and prayer has made this all more bearable and "easier" to have our story be heard and hopefully for others to see God glorified within this." Before and after having their first child, a now 4-year-old son, Bennett, Kelsie Peters and her husband, Patrick, suffered through three miscarriages. Wanting to know if there was some kind of underlying issue, Kelsie underwent blood testing only to discover that she has a blood clotting disorder, which doctors said means she "shouldn't be able to sustain pregnancies without medical intervention."

A few months later, after being prescribed a blood thinner and continuing to try for another pregnancy, Kelsie and Patrick found out they were expecting — not one, but two babies — and couldn't wait to share the news with friends and family. "Awe immediately hit our faces and along with tears in our eyes, our hearts became overwhelmed at the thought of receiving a DOUBLE rainbow!" Kelsie shared with the Love What Matters Facebook page.

However, Kelsie says the couple decided to wait until their gender reveal party to tell their loved ones that they were having twins. "It's too difficult emotionally to tell family we're pregnant . . . just to have to go back and take that joy away from them, all while dealing with our own loss and grief," Kelsie wrote. "So during the gender reveal, we had a hidden box ready to be thrown in last minute to completely throw everyone off. Needless to say it worked!"
