Things Moms Probably Shouldn't Say to Dads

Oh, this is a hard one because often Dad gets home from work right around the time of day everyone should start winding down, not up. He missed them and wants to horse around, but we've got different plans.

OK, this is one that is generally said to the kids and overheard by Dad, but take it from me, this phrase is not a husband-pleaser.

Does your grown husband need a reminder to be careful? Probably. But you can bet he is going to guard your kiddos with his life in any situation.

I'm guessing your kids eat pretty well most of the time. So if Dad wants to feed them mac and cheese with hot dogs and ketchup followed by ice cream one night, then so be it.

Unless it involves teaching your son how to pee standing up, I'd say parenthood is pretty equal.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have a little chuckle at the funny ways dads may dress their children, but we probably shouldn't put him down for it either.

Brush his teeth, give him a bath, make him go potty, give him his medicine? Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. But nagging Dad about it never helped.

If he's the dad, it's not called babysitting.

It's easy to pin our kid's flaws on anyone but ourselves.

Just like we stay-at-home moms can get easily offended by an unassuming question, so can the dads of our children.

Maybe he doesn't change the diaper or spoon feed the way you do it, but we mamas probably need to take a step back from judging his way of doing things.

Be it a soccer game or class party, the fact is that both parents can't always be there for everything, specifically if one parent is working a full-time job. If Dad can't make something special, you can bet he already feels bad. No need to add insult to injury.

Does he get what it feels like to be a mother? No. Does he get what it feels like to be a father? Yes, and that bond is real. So yeah, he gets "it."
