Grab Your Umbrellas: There's a Mary Poppins Attraction Coming to Disney World's Epcot

Walt Disney World's Epcot has quite a few exciting expansions in the works. On the heels of the news that a Moana-themed attraction is making its way to the park soon, Disney announced at its 2019 D23 Expo that it's adding an all-new attraction inspired by Mary Poppins.

During a two-hour presentation at the expo, Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, announced a handful of upcoming expansions coming to the park in the near future, noting that a plan is currently in place to divide the park into four neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery. The upcoming attraction will live in World Showcase, and it'll obviously be inspired by the classic film's titular character and her adventures with the Banks family.

Cherry Tree Lane will sit at the entrance of the attraction, and guests will be able to explore the Banks family home as well as the street they live on. Dick Van Dyke, who joined Chapek on stage while the announcement was made, sweetly explained to the crowd why the film is still significant to audiences today. "What made it was 'Uncle Walt,'" he said. "Walt Disney was a creative genius who looked at the world through a child's eyes."

There's no word yet as to when we should expect the Mary Poppins attraction to officially be open to the public, but we'll definitely keep our eyes and ears peeled to hear more!

Epcot's United Kingdom pavilion will welcome the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins. Guests will step in time down Cherry Tree Lane past Admiral Boom's house, then enter Number 17, home of the Banks family, where their adventure will begin. (Disney
