You know we love a good STEM toy for girls, and we've been vocal supporters of GoldieBlox since the company launched. Now the company known for its fabulous commercials and engineering toys (with nary a princess, doll, nor tea set in sight) is moving out of the toy box and onto mobile devices with the GoldieBlox and the Movie Machine App (free), an iOS app that can be used with and without the company's toys, teaching kids to make their own 12-frame animated GIFs that can be printed out on cards and used with toys, uploaded to the company's soon-to-be released Bloxtown.com site to be shared with other users, or shared with friends. The app features the voices of Kari Byron of MythBusters and Emily Haines of the rock band Metric to add just a bit more girl power to it.
