Sorry, but This Baseball-Themed Gender Reveal Is More Creative Than All the Others

Those gender-reveal parties when an expectant mom slices into a cake to reveal either pink or blue filling are cute and all, but let's face it: you've seen one, you've seen them all.

That's why one couple's clever baseball-themed take on the tradition quite literally knocked all the others right out of the park.

When Monique Tello and Steven Statter wanted to surprise their loved ones with the sex of their unborn child, the longtime Dodgers fans decided to head to the baseball diamond armed with a very special, incredibly delicate baseball — a clear plastic Christmas ornament painted and then filled with chalk powder by Monique's sister so even the soon-to-be parents could be surprised.

"[It was] extremely fragile," photographer David Swayze said on Facebook, noting he was more concerned about Steven hitting the ball before it cracked on the ground than getting the perfect photo. "We had one shot to make this work."

Family members were asked to wear pink or blue, depending on their prediction, and those who guessed a girl were sent to one dugout, while the "team" betting on a boy hung out at the other.

Then, Steven took the plate, Monique threw out the first pitch, and . . . it was a hit! As for the results? Well, watch it all unfold ahead.
