Reasons they need to see it: Rick Moranis — need I say more? Fine, I will. This movie is such a classic between its '80s vibes and the endearing portrayal of unexpected underdog heroes; you won't find a kid who doesn't love this one.

What to look out for: When I was a kid I was deeply disturbed over the size of "Anty" because he was, well, gross. The kids get into some trouble along the way across the backyard, one of them almost drowning during a drizzle that creates huge, unavoidable puddles.
