So, Family Raves Are a Thing, and They Actually Look Pretty Awesome

When you think of raves, chances are you probably don't think about them being kid-friendly. Between the loud noises and flashing lights, little ones might run and hide, right? Not exactly. Kid-friendly raves have recently become a huge trend, and they actually look pretty awesome. The events give families a chance to play and dance together in a safe and supportive environment, with kids getting to be their natural selves and parents getting to experience some of that childlike energy and fun.

Big Fish Little Fish, a UK-based company that has organized family raves all over Britain since 2013, describes itself as "an independent, grassroots music and events crew of seasoned ravers and parents that put on family raves with all the freedom and excitement of a mini-festival." Its raves entail top DJs, fun themes, craft and snack tables, face painting, glow sticks, and more. Similar companies have also been popping up all over the US.
